Invitation by Mr. Hans Welling, Chairman ICEVI-Europe

Dear members of ICEVI-Europe, dear colleagues,

ICEVI-Europe can look back on a long tradition of conferences. We can be satisfied with that, especially now ICEVI-World emphasises regional conferences.
In connection with this, the world conferences will change of character and only 13 participants per region will be able to participate.

Therefore I gladly invite you to participate our 8th ICEVI European Conference in Europe, which will take place from June 30 to July 05, 2013 in Istanbul - Turkey.

More than ever, this conference aims to be a meeting place for all, who are involved in education, rehabilitation and care for people with a visual impairment or multidisabilities; parents, professionals, policymakers and governments. Everybody is invited to actively take part in this conference.

More or less contrary to previous conferences, this conference will explicitly pay attention per age category & to several fields, which have been worked out by the International Classification of Functioning, disability and health, ICF:

  • Visual system
  • Activities and participations
  • Environmental factors
  • Personal factors

These fields underlie the structure of the conference in the expectation that this will stimulate meetings between persons with the same interest.

Therefore it will be a meeting place which means that we have to make this conference together. We offer much opportunity to express one's ideas and wishes.
The Programme Committee is interested in receiving those.

The Host Committee cordially welcomes you in the beautiful and historically interesting Istanbul.

Hans Welling, Chairman ICEVI-Europe
