These rehabilitation centres offer vocational rehabilitation and education for adult blind and visually impaired. Vocational rehabilitation courses cover training and retraining. The members of the German Federation of Blind and Visually Impaired People are 20 regional organisations which subdivide into 300 district and local organisations.

The purpose of the German Federation of Blind and Visually Impaired People is to maintain the social position of blind and visually impaired people and to promote their social and vocational integration.
